Endelig!

An Owl in the dark

A couple of weeks ago, Christine saw an owl outside in the dark. It was looking very hungry and was watching the guinea pigs. Luckily they were in their hut and the owl only got cockroaches for dinner.

The owl wasn't shy and let Christine walk around and take a lot of pictures. Not every one looks good but here they are:

The best picture

Ava and I thinks it looks really cute!!

Looking after ...

... the guinea pigs :o

Ava looked this up on google about the Owl, which we think is called the Southern Boobook Owl:

There is considerable individual and geographic colour variation. The facial disc is paler then the feathering of the head, and has large dark patches behind each eye, and an indistinct whitish rim. The eyes are pale greenish-yellow to yellow and the bill is bluish-grey.

Upperparts are pale to dark brown with irregular pale or white spots on the wing-coverts. The scapulars have relatively large whitish areas on the outer webs, forming and indistinct whitish row across the shoulder. The primaries and secondaries are rufous-brown with dark brown bars. The tail is dark rufous-brown with paler bars, becoming whitish-buff on the inner webs.
The throat is whitish, and the rest of the underparts have broad rufous-brown streaks and cross-bars.

Tarsi are feathered, and the brownish-grey toes are bare, with bristles on the upper-side. Claws are dark horn with darker tips.

Triathlon nr. 2

Morgen sol
Ava writes: this pelican is swimming on the river with its webbed feet. it can catch about fifty fish at a time because its beak is so big. it can drink 2 liters at a time.

Triathlonet går i gang.
